The order slip on the table and the bill in the waiter’s head

The order arrives on a slip of paper, the kitchen transcribes it, and the bill isn’t generated until the guest remembers. With room service, it’s the same thing, but with a longer delay: minibar charges and breakfast are added to the hotel bill in the evening—if they’re added at all.

From QR to a settled bill

The guest scans the table, room, or delivery code. The order goes to the kitchen and the front desk, not to a chat app. Payment by card, mobile, or later charged to the room closes the bill. A tax receipt is generated upon payment; the tip doesn’t have to be “left on the table.”

The second point is important for the front desk: room service is not a parallel world. If it’s supposed to end in the room, it ends in the room. If it’s supposed to end with a receipt in hand, the guest receives it via QR.

  • Order tied to a table or room
  • The kitchen sees the ticket, not a paper copy
  • Payment and tax receipt in a single transaction
  • Charged to the room when the guest does not pay at the table
