Questions about this module

What is a hotel channel manager?

A channel manager syncs availability, rates and bookings between the hotel PMS and online sales channels. A change in Ellipse is sent to the connected portals, and a new booking is written back into the PMS automatically.

How does Channel Manager help prevent overbooking?

After a booking arrives, the system reduces availability in Ellipse and sends the new availability to the other connected channels. Every portal then works with the same capacity.

Does Ellipse support Booking.com, Expedia, Airbnb and Vrbo?

Ellipse is built to distribute to the main OTAs and other sales channels through supported XML or iCal connections. The exact connections are set up according to the hotel's portfolio.

Can you also sell through GDS with Ellipse?

Yes. Channel Manager is part of a wider distribution layer in Ellipse, which can include OTAs, GDS and corporate sales.

Do I have to change rates on every portal separately?

No. You manage rates and rules in one place. Depending on the setup, revPRO can change them too, and Channel Manager then distributes them.

How is a new OTA booking processed?

The booking is written automatically onto the hotel tape chart with the data from the supported channel. The front desk does not have to retype it from the extranet.
